Alinta, which owns some of the most extensive natural gas pipelines and electricity networks in Australia has been accused of carcinogenic pollution in one of their Sydney Council-owned sites, Barangaroo. According to the Barangaroo Development Authority, the toxic chemicals, found underneath the site, is estimated to cost $98 million dollars to clean up. The New South Wales Greens have demanded that Alinta picked up the tab.
Alinta was bought over by Singapore Power and Babcock & Brown in 2007.
