It seems that the mercenaries are at it again. According to Jeremy Scahill, the International Peace Operations Association have created a special webpage hours after the earthquake in Haiti, offering prospective services to clients. Naomi Klein also concurred that the free market think tank, Heritage Foundation, is planning on exploiting this disaster to push through their unpopular neoliberal policies.
Another Al Jazeera report questioned the America’s dispatch of approximately 13,000 military troops into Haiti in which foreign governments and aid groups criticised the former for prioritising military ahead of humanitarian ones by taking over operations at the Haitian capital’s airport.
While the urgency to deliver aid is of paramount importance, the topic of ensuring security is another matter altogether.
