John Pilger wins Sydney Peace Prize

5 Aug

John Pilger has won the 2009 Sydney Peace Prize.

I think he deserves the award for having written books and produced  documentaries extensively on global justice issues ranging from the military regime in Burma to the Occupied Territories.

It is time to read his books if you have never done so. Go watch his documentaries. Start with ‘The War on Democracy’ which won the 2008 One World Award.

Here is what the jury of the Sydney Peace Prize has to say about him:

‘For work as an author, film-maker and journalist as well as for courage as a foreign and war correspondent in enabling the voices of the powerless to be heard. For commitment to peace with justice by exposing and holding governments to account for human rights abuses and for fearless challenges to censorship in any form.
