Sydney Walk Against Warming 09

According to the AFP, as many as 50,000 people had taken to the streets Australian-wide for Walk Against Warming. In Sydney, the organisers estimated that at least 15,000 turned up at Martin Place for the protest.

This is the fifth Walk Against the Warming annual event in Australia and possibly the largest as it coincides with the Copenhagen Summit. There is a festive and theatrical mood in the Sydney demonstration as protestors from across NSW walk from Martin Place to the Botanic Gardens amidst music and drums. Amongst the interesting dressed up characters are a dancing polar bear, a supergirl and wonder woman from justice league.
