The state of water pollution

Extracted from a UNEP report, ‘Sick Water’:

Globally, almost 900 million people do not have access to safe water.

Approximately 2.6 billion people, half the population in the developing world do not have access to proper sanitation.

At least 1.8 million children under the age of five die every year of water related diseases.

About 2.2 million people die annually from diarrhoeal disease. 88% of the time, they are caused by poor hygiene or unsafe water.
